STARBASE Indiana is honored to be part of the community outreach initiatives at area hospitals. Teachers and staffers visit local patients and bring a bag of STEM activities to entertain, educate, and encourage those children experiencing a hospital stay. These visits are broad-casted to patient rooms on closed circuit television up to the kids’ rooms, or over to intensive cares — all to bring a little lightheartedness to children and families whose situations are anything but lighthearted. Patients that may leave their room join our staff in a children's play area for hands-on learning as a respite during their hospital stay.

STARBASE Indiana takes part in area community efforts to increase the awareness of STEM. We have participated in many programs including Girl Scout STEM days, OMK (Operation Military Kids), Indianapolis student science conventions, Conner Prairie STEM Outreach day, College and Continuing Education seminars, McMillan Parks Department summer programs, and Family Days for our military community.

SUMMER CAMP

Our summer camps explore the best of our local community STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) collaborations. In addition to learning at our host STARBASE locations, we travel around our local communities to bring students the latest in STEAM learning. We pack these 5 day programs with any of the following: computer design, aviation investigations, the science of baseball, robotics programming, or one of our very favorites-rocket launches.

In addition to experiments and rocket launches, we know campers are also building skills in observation, investigation, science, technology, engineering, and math. Not to mention confidence!
